On a french 'azerty' keyboard:
q=a, a=q
z=w, z=w
those are the easiest ones.
then
m=, :=m
and all the non alphanumeric characters are on different keys.
Numbers on the top row are accessed by Shift- instead of simply as on the US keyboard.
Also, since french language has extra 'accented' letters like 'é' that take space, the right Alt key is is called 'Alt Gr' and is reserved to access a third character in some keys. Take key '3' on the top row for instance: pressing <3> gives '"', pressing shift-<3> gives '3', pressing AltGr-<3> gives '#' :)
The French keyboard is designed for the secretaries or anyone who types regular text all day long, but is a chore for computer people who use a lot of non-alpha characters.
